Affordable Housing in Suffolk

Client: n/a

Some Suffolk countryside settlements are currently subject to a dysfunctional pattern of extremely strict development restrictions leading them to becoming ‘fossilised’. Due to lack of new dwellings and high market value of existing properties people with low income – mostly young adults and the elderly – cannot afford their own home and are forced to move out of the village. This prompts a vicious circle, triggering the collapse of services such as post offices, medical surgeries or primary schools, resulting in the villages being classified as ‘unsustainable’, further reducing their chances for regeneration.
