2019
Hoopers Architects generated the idea of a Lido as part of an internal case study programme in 2019 looking at imaginative ways to address the concerns Sizewell C would have on tourism across the area. This lead us to explore the idea of a Lido as a legacy project promoting positive and collaborative stakeholder and community outcomes.

Harnessing any underused thermal energy from the power plant to create a thermal ‘dune lagoon and saltwater lido’ were part of an idea to make the Suffolk coast a destination location all year round.
We’ve had some excited reactions from the local community, local sea swimming groups and swimming clubs and it appears to align well with the new Leiston Town Centre Masterplan.
