Our design for this development encompasses a thoughtful and character-driven approach, comprising ten carefully positioned dwellings that harmoniously blend with the open green belt along Chapel Road. Our primary design goal has been to create well-proportioned and aesthetically pleasing homes that cater to the unique characteristics of the site. This approach takes into account key factors such as scale, materiality, abundant natural light, and the preservation of open spaces.
The layout of these dwellings draws inspiration from the surrounding suburban environment, particularly the terraced blocks along Chapel Road, resulting in a terrace-oriented arrangement. This layout not only aligns with the prevailing typology but also enhances the visual appeal of the neighbourhood. Additionally, it has been developed in consultation with the planning department at Breckland to ensure a cohesive and sustainable community.
Our development embraces the local context through the use of high-quality materials, respecting the diverse architectural styles that have evolved over time in the area. The terrace layout runs parallel to Chapel Road School's boundary and Short Road, creating a green landscaped belt that offers a pleasant environment for both new and existing residents. This landscaping also ensures the required road junction visibility.
To meet parking standards set by Norfolk County Council, we have provided rear-accessed parking for most plots, avoiding access from Chapel Road. Each plot boasts a spacious rear garden, complete with bin storage, garden storage, and parking spaces, including provisions for garden sheds. We are committed to retaining the semi-mature Horse Chestnut tree on the site and have incorporated it into our design while avoiding any impact on its health.
The terraced orientation maximises natural light, with morning sun at the rear and afternoon and evening sun at the front. Our design features open-plan living spaces with ample natural daylighting from dual-aspect windows and top-lit double-height stairwells.
